Calvary Chapel Academy’s mission as a ministry of Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda is to partner with families in making disciples of Jesus Christ who are growing spiritually, academically, socially and physically through a personal knowledge and love of Him and His Word, and who in turn are committed to making disciples in the world through their love of others.

Arax Shahverdian – Kindergarten

I have been so blessed to be a part of this ministry’s growth. My journey at CCYL started in January of 1996, as a pre-school teacher, and then moved to the Academy as a Kindergarten teacher in 2000. I was born and raised in Armenia. While working on my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts& Foreign Language (English) at the Yerevan State University, I worked with youth group programs and organized after school activities. I also have an Associate of Arts degree in Child Development from Fullerton College. I now live in Yorba Linda with my husband and our children, Alec and Emilia, who have been students at CCYL since they were three years old. Calvary Chapel of Yorba Linda has been a second home for my family and me. I love teaching Kindergarten, and feel privileged to be a part of a team whose mission is making disciples for Christ!

Machelle O’Donnell - 4th Grade

Hello, my name is Machelle O’Donnell, and I teach 4th grade. I began teaching at Calvary Chapel Academy in September 2014. I feel very fortunate to work with such a dynamic and creative staff at Calvary Chapel Academy.  I felt the Lord calling me into the Teaching field right out of High school. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Child/Adolescent Development from California State University, Fullerton. Masters In Education and Teaching Credential from Hope International University, Fullerton. I have taught preschool through 4th grade. I have subbed in the public schools K-8th.  I am a dedicated teacher and respect the unique qualities of my students. My goal is to instill in them a love and enthusiasm for a learning  and God that will last a lifetime. My favorite verse from the Bible is Matthew 22:37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your should and with all your mind.”

Katie Bobier – 5th Grade

Hello!  My name is Katie Bobier and I will be teaching fifth grade this year at Calvary Chapel Academy. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Long Beach where I also earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.  I have been working with youth for over nine years in varying capacities both in and out of the classroom.  God has given me a passion for helping students excel to their fullest potential and I am very excited to be a part of the Calvary family!  Have a blessed school year!

Alyx Holiday – Literature Specialist

I have been on staff at CCYL for the last 7 years. I received my B.A. from UCLA in English and then went on to complete my Single Subject teaching credential from National University.   I am married and have three children. In addition to my teaching duties, I encourage my students to participate in events outside of the classroom. These events include the spelling bee, writing contests, and athletic events. Several students have been published in the annual ACSI anthology and the spelling bee is always a great success in showing the student’s hard work and dedication. In the last few years I have taken my students both current and former on several athletic endeavors. We have completed 2 half marathons, a mud run, three 5k runs, and a sprint triathlon. I feel that each day is a blessing and I encourage my students to rejoice in each day.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Nicole Rengifo – Junior High History and Science

Hello!  I am Nicole Rengifo and this is my 5th year at Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda.  I have worked everywhere from computer teacher, daycare staff, summer camp, and junior high teacher.  For the past few years I have been teaching junior high History and Science.  Being at a same school is so rewarding and I love see the students grow each year. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband, my puppy Slinky, and family.  I am so excited for another great year with your students!  Phil 4:13.

Dione Martinez – Junior High Math and Science

I first came to Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda in 2001 as a pre-school parent. I was finishing my Masters Degree in Education at UCI and needed childcare for my two daughters.  My husband and I began attending church here and when I graduated I was offered a job. I taught elementary Math and Spanish my first year, 4th Grade my second year, then I became the junior high math teacher. This will be my 10th year here at CCA. As a part of the ministry of the school I believe it is important to reach out and teach our students more than just academics. As a result, along with my husband, we also teach Ballet Folklorico. Every year we put on a school wide performance featuring dancers from Kindergarten through 8th grade. My daughters have been attending Calvary since preschool and are now entering 6th & 7th Grade.  Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda has been a blessing for my family and me.
